Udit Narayan

Udit Narayan Jha ((ネパール語:उदित नारायण झा); born 1 December 1955) is a Nepalese playback singer of Madhesi ethnicity and Maithil sub-ethnicity whose songs have been featured mainly in Bollywood and Nepali movies. Born in Bhardaha, Saptari district in Nepalese Mithila of Madhesh region of Nepal, has also sung many songs in other languages including Bhojpuri, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Garhwali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Maithili and Bengali. He has won three National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards. In 2001, Narayan was awarded the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu by the late King of Nepal Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Udit Narayan Jha was born in the village of Bhardaha, in Saptari District, Nepal. His father was Hare Krishna Jha and his mother was Bhuwaneshwari Devi who belonged to Maithali ethnicity of Nepal.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Timesofindia.indiatimes.com is temporarily unavailable )
Narayan studied at P.B. School, Rajbiraj, Nepal where he passed his S.L.C. (class 10) and later obtained his intermediate from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu.
He is ofently regarded as king of bollywood playback as his voice suits Bollywood top actors like Aamir khan, Shahrukh khan, Salman Khan, Akshay kumar.He began his career in 1970 as a staff artiste for a radio show called Radio Nepal, singing mostly popular Nepali folk songs in Nepali, Maithili, Nepal Bhasa, and Bhojpuri. After eight years, Narayan moved to Bombay because the Indian embassy offered him a chance to study classical music at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan on a music scholarship. In 1980, noted music director (composer) Rajesh Roshan asked him to playback for the Hindi film "Unees Bees". Narayan was given the opportunity to sing with the veteran singer Mohammed Rafi. After that work, Narayan provided playback for a number of other films, including Bade Dil Wala in 1983, where he had the chance to sing a song composed by R D Burman and duet with Lata Mangeshkar. In the same year, Narayan sang with Kishore Kumar in the film Kehdo Pyar Hai. A significant milestone in his career occurred in 1988 when Anand-Milind gave him the opportunity to sing all the songs for the successful Bollywood movie ''Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'' with Alka Yagnik which earned him a Filmfare Award. That success has led Narayan to sing more than 25,000 songs in over 34 languages.
